How to make 1 cup (250 mL) of 40 % w/v thin liquid barium suspension:

Using liquid barium with 105 % w/v and 58 % w/w concentrations (e.g., Liquid Polibar Plus):

  1. Depending on the measurement devices available:
    • Using a weighing scale:
      1. Place an empty container on a digital balance and zero the balance.
      2. Pour in 172 g of the liquid barium suspension into the container.
  1. Add enough water for the total volume to reach 250 mL (this will require approx. 155 mL of water).
  2. Shake well and leave to stand in a refrigerator.

Using EZ-HD powder with 98% w/w (Note: Label indicates that the addition of 65mL of water creates a 250%w/v liquid barium suspension with a total suspension volume of 135mL):

  1. Depending on the measurement devices available:
    • Using a weighing scale:
      1. Place an empty container on a digital balance and zero the balance.
      2. Pour in 102 g of the barium powder into the container.
  1. Add enough water for the total volume to reach 250 mL (this will require approx. 229 mL of water).
  2. Shake well and leave to stand in a refrigerator.
